SAT II's!!

ok, i am taking the SAT II's tomorrow (saturday) and i am taking math IIC, literature, and spanish. i have taken practice tests for them and have gotten approximately 600 on all of them.

i have heard that michigan doesn't really look at SAT II's but if i put them on my transcript, WILL THEY HURT ME?

or should i not put htem in at all?
(i got 2100 on my SAT, 30 on ACT)

please help!! PLEASE! THANKS!

it doesn't matter...they won't look at them at all...won't hurt or help

that is so strange. really, they won't look at them AT ALL?

they won't look at them AT ALL...

unless you're homeschooled, SAT II's don't matter at Michigan.

Then why does the FAQ say otherwise?

If SAT II Subject tests are sent to our office, they will be considered in the admissions decision.

Or is that wrong?

OH CRAP. that sucks!!!

Why was everyone saying that they didn't matter then?

I sent mine there anyways, but still??!!

They're not considered in the sense that they're not required nor expected of students, but I don't see any reason why they wouldn't consider it as some kind of extracurricular to indicate mastery of a subject.

If you take an SATII in each subject area and get 800s, I would assume it would help a lot. It may show you have no life by studying all these subjects, but it also shows you are pretty smart and know what you are doing. SATII tests wont matter nearly as much as the SAT or ACT, but can give a small boost and an 800 could make up for a B in the same subject (I hope).

lol, in my case, I took
AP Calc AB, AP Physics B, AP Biology
Then less than a month later, on June 3rd, I took the SAT IIs for Math, Physics, and Biology. So... I didnt have to study any for any of them (the math is easy enough as it is, the physics is almost identical to AP Physics B), so I got an 800 on math and physics with no studying just for SAT IIs.

Im hoping the 800s actually do mean something for them when they look at my application, especially that my intended major is physics.

how about you guys try and concentrate on the parts of the app that will count for sure instead of worrying about the unknown. i can guarantee you that if youre borderline, your SAT II scores will not be the deciding factor.

wtg Moose, nice job of going actually doing some research before posting.

I think it's ignorant to say taht they don't look at SAT II's... prestigious schools do. Trust me, if you have 700+'s on your SAT II's it'll look way better than 500+'s

I remember during a campus visit my junior year the lady said they won't consider SATII scores at all..but that was 3 years ago..

I wish I could not study for an SAT at all and get an 800... -_-;;

yeah i know really. i am in the 20th percentile for spanish. that is so sad. it makes me want to cry a little. but just a little.
(in my defense, i blame my completely inept spanish teachers)

don't worry sassafrasroots, my chinese listening was a 750 but i still ended up in the 28th percentile lol.
