Predicament: I'm taking Chem Honors this year (well, actually, it's chem science and tech, as our anal school would say, but i digress) and I'm doing really well. I heard in passing (maybe on here) that i should take the SAT II subject test pertinent to courses I've taken at the end of the year. But I'm taking AP Chem next year. Obviously, I'll know more about chem next year. But I'm already solid.

Question:So, should I take the SAT II this year or next?

Second Predicament/Question: And if I take the AP Bio exam (i'm in the class now) should I take the SAT II as well, or does it not really matter?

Random Questions: Which SAT II's are most common/important? How much are they? How are they offered? (like, is there a day for the chem one, or are they all at the same time?) Are they hard? How did you study.

I'm a sophomore and taking Honors Chem as well. Even though some of my classmates will take AP Chem, our very experienced teacher thinks that the SATII should be taken right after the course is completed. Don't wait for the AP, as it goes into more detail than you'd need on the SATII.

There's no need to wait till after AP Chem to take the Chem SATII. I took it after Honors Chem and got an 800, easily.

MathII-C is an unwritten requirement, I think, for many schools. It's always a good idea to take that one. Take a foreign language too if you can, because it helps.

gzhang, I have never heard of the Math II being an "unwritten requirement" for any schools. If schools require anything, they will specify it. Like if you're applying to an engineering school, they'll probably want you to take a math and a science SAT II.

As for dates and studying, princessbell, look on CollegeBoard.com. They have all the schedules for every subject and you can see where in your area they are giving the test and register to take it. To study, you can buy a book from College Board to do practice exams, or look online. There might be sites with questions taken off the SAT II, or very similar in nature.

And I'd say you'd be fine with Chem at the end of this year. Just look through the topics it covers to make sure you know all of them (some school's curriculums aren't exactly the same as the SAT II's contest).

go look at a practice test and see if you can do it. if so, take it now. its best to get those out of the way as soon as possible so u not swamped junior/senior year.
