I'm a senior and I will be applying to CMU as an engineering major. I was looking on the website and it said that I had to take a Math SAT Subject Test (SAT II) and either Physics or Chemistry. Is this required for everyone? I received a 4 on the AP Calc AB last year and a 750 on the SAT Math, but I don't know the first thing about SAT II's.

Math I and Ic are both similar to the Math on the regular SATs (I'm not sure of the difference), whereas Math IIc is more advanced and includes trigonometry.
I'm applying to SCS and I'm wondering if an 800 on Math IIc and an 800 in Chemistry is good enough or if I should go for the 800 in Physics also. Any ideas?

If you have 800s on Math IIc and Chem you should be fine - they don't expect more test scores than what they ask for. If admissions doesn't go your way, I think it would be for other weaknesses in your application that one more perfect test score wouldn't fix. I had a 720 in physics, no other sciences, and I was admitted to SCS. :) Spend your time on ECs or your courses.

OK, I'll just get back to leading my FIRST Robotics team and getting a good start-up year for our Physics Olympics team. Thanks for the feedback.

nah we usually only go to the Rochester Regional at RIT (small private school and we can only afford 1 regional) but if we go to Atlanta then I'll see ya there

I founded my school's FIRST team, but nobody is enthusiastic about it at all.

We have like..3 members and no idea how to start it up.

It's a shame my school is completely lacking in education for engineers and scientists and instead focuses on producing the best doctors and lawyers...I literally had to go to the autobody instructor to find a teacher interested in sponsoring our FIRST team.
