How important are they? It says they are optional if you send ACT scores. Can you get in without them? I'm hesitant because I got 740 Lit, 710 Spanish... and a 640 Math II I'm not too happy with.

You CAN get in without them. I'd send them because of the Lit and Spanish scores, if you have a good ACT math score, I'd say your safe. SAT II's only serve to enhance your application.

To be completley honest, colleges like NU, WashU, and Stanford do not consider the SAT IIs very highly. If you have taken them they consider them, but at the WashU presentation last year they said, "don't waste your time taking SAT IIs."

Don't worry about it. Sure they'll take a look, but its not going to be a deal breaker. I got a 730 lit, 530 history, and 460 spanish (yay ouch OUCH), but was accepted ED. If your applying to McCormick its prolly a bigger deal, but I'm SoC and it didnt kill me (thank god), so you are probably fine. Besides, those scores are actually pretty good

Congratulations e2226!

haha thank you! i'm still in shock, but i'm glad that one poor test morning (ya, there were other factors, but at the end of the day those are just excuses) doesn't break an applicant

Whew Congrats e2226!
BTW, does anyone know whether Northwestern accepts score choice starting from the Class of 2010?
