I need to register for SAT II's soon but am not completely decided on which ones colleges would like to see (if they have a preference)..
Right now, I'm taking Spanish Language AP, Biology AP, Statistics AP, Math Analysis (Pre-calc) H, US History AP, and English Language & Comp AP

I was thinking of doing the SAT subject tests for Spanish, Bio, and Math 2...would colleges rather see some other tests or does it not matter? i know most colleges accept 2 tests and some accept 3...
thanks

This really depends on what you’re planning to major in in college, but as a starter I would definitely take Math 2. Most colleges would like to see that.

Erasmus is right. Are you good at Spanish? Are you a native speaker? Check the SAT subject test description file (just google) and see if you can do the practice questions you give. Colleges like another language. And… I would take SAT US History because a) it’s different to all your other ones and that shows a versatile intellect b) the curve is huge c) it’s reasonably easy if you know your stuff, which you will because you’ll have to study for it for the AP test.

I’m very good at spanish, although I am not a native speaker. It’s one of my best classes.

So US History would be a better choice than biology? To be honest, I’m not very interested in history and it’s not one of my easier classes because of that. However, I suppose I may be prepared because I will be studying for the AP (although at this point, I don’t remember anything! haha)

I’m planning to major in something along the lines of psychology or behavioral neuroscience (I want to pursue a career dealing with autism).

Yeah, I heard spanish is really hard =/
I think I’m just gonna take Bio, Math 2, and probably Spanish in May just to see…and if I do bad on any I can take them again in June and then take US then too…

Dana, check the collegeboard website for the SAT descriptions and see if you can do the SAT Spanish questions. My warning to you is that there are plenty of native speakers in the US and I don’t think they would give out free 800s, it has to be reasonably difficult. But if you can do it, then that’s great!

Okay, there’s a few problems with Biology. The first of which is the fact that high school curricula is so different. I guarantee, you probably wouldn’t have gone into all the ecological content and there’s probably many topics that you haven’t covered. I remember studying for it and what we had covered was so different, so keep that in mind.

US History is way more uniform and if you know your stuff, you’ll do great. There’s also a great curve and frankly, I don’t think that taking SAT Biology is a strategic advantage for you because I really can’t see admissions officers linking psychology to biology. Isn’t psychology more of a social studies class anyway?

EDIT: I think you can get 10 or so wrong on US History and still get an 800.

Yeah, I’ll definitely go onto collegeboard and check out the Spanish…I know a lot of native speakers take it, so the curve is very minimal unfortunately…thank you for the collegeboard tip!

My bio teacher’s amazing…I’m pretty sure we cover pretty much everything because my brother took the Bio subject test last June and did amazing on it, but I’ll check up on that too…
Edit: yeah, psychology is considered a social science. I know it’s not linked to my major, but I was just considering it because I heard it’s not too hard at all.

I’ll probably end up taking US History as well (maybe replace Spanish) because, as you said, it’s not too hard and the curve is very helpful. I just need to start studying for the AP, so hopefully I’ll be prepared by then.

OK, if you end up doing Biology, make sure you buy a test prep book because your school textbook won’t cut it and you should buy a US History test prep book too. Good luck!

just signed up for Biology, Spanish, and US History…
when I asked my spanish teacher about the spanish subject test today and told her i heard it was impossible, she laughed at me and was like “you’ll do great! ask anyone who took it here last year. they all got 740s, etc” …lets hope she’s right!

I’ll be taking Math 2 in June since we won’t be done with everything by May 2nd
