Well, just got my SAT II scores back, and I’m in a bit of a conundrum about what to do. I got 730 Lit, 750 US History, 600 Math IC… I know, the math is really abysmal. Will it look really bad if I submit just lit and us history? I could retake them, but I’d like to save that October date for retaking the SAT I’s (800w, 800v, 600m)… again, the math is really a problem. I am between 4 schools for ED (Wellesley, Swarthmore, Smith, and Pomona)… so maybe I’ll apply to Wellesley, Smith, or Pomona ED2 and retake them. Should I just submit Lit and US History? Thanks for any suggestions.

I think all of your scores go. The schools will consider the two highest (if they only require two). You can't pick and choose which ones to send.

I'm certainly not an expert, but I really wonder if you should take any of your tests again. Your critical reading and writing scores are just AMAZING!! and your Literature and History scores are pretty good too. Maybe you should think about presenting yourself as who you are -- an extremely strong candidate in language arts who is not particularly good in math. Every single candidate for admissions has strengths and weaknesses. Your strengths are pretty obvious so perhaps you should play to them rather than try to make yourself into a stronger math person. My guess is that anyone who chooses "ladylazarus" as a screen name has a whole lot more to say about understanding poetry than about understanding equations.

If your major is going to be math oriented, that score will count against you. If not, it will not do much either way. If you don't include a score on your app it may seem suspicious, but what do I know?
