what are some really good schools that accept without SAT II's???

Lehigh, Mount Holyoke, Smith (recommends)

thankyou very much! anymore?

Villanova doesn't look at them either.

A lot of schools say the ACT is all you need.

can someone please explain the ACT only thing? i've taken the SAT and the ACT, but say I were to apply to a school that requires SAT II's, I can't substitute my ACT scores for that can I? Please clear this up!

It depends on the university's policy. Check out this list of admissions requirements. Just glancing through the first few, I saw a handful of colleges that accept the ACT without any SAT II's (Amherst, Barnard, Boston, Brown... etc)

thankyou, that helped a lot!

usc. they recommend but u dunt have to

Why wouldn't you take SAT II's?

I'd rather take them all on one day and apply wherever I want rather than let that restrict my options.

pretty much because i know i'll bomb them

upenn accepts the act in lieu of the sat and three sat IIs. however the don't recommend it.

an excellent public school that doesn't require sat IIs is michigan. however, why don't you take the sat IIs?? if you do well, then its a big plus and opens doors to even more schools. if you bomb them, don't send them in and stick to your original game plan.

well thanks for the encouragement, but they just stress me out! Plus with my score on the SAT (1930) I can't get into really great schools so there's really no need for the SAT II's because I probably don't need to be applying to any schools that require them. but thanks anyways!

1930 is still a good score...increase to 2000 and you'll definitely get into some really great schools

Most schools are steering away from SAT II's. Since most of the competitive schools, such as all the Ivys, etc. require them for admission, they tend to see mostly between 700-800's, and schools such as MIT, Harvard, and Yale see less variation. SAT II's require no special ability, and, in a sense, they are more of a proficinency test than anything else.
