SAT-----important factor to get into Princeton?

.......................

Depends. If they're within a certain range, then everything else counts. Needless to say, SAT Scores are important, but not the ultimate factor of getting in.

I wonder if there is a cutoff......

probably not

But then again someone with a score of say 1000 probably wouldnt have a perfect gpa either.

Thanks a lot. What if a person gets 4.1 GPA but 1700-1900 on the New SAT(possible points are 2400)? Does that person still have hope to enter Prin.?

Dont how how relevant this is but my friend who has 1060 SAT I got in to Illinois Inst. of Tech.

IIT is an easy school to get into. ;)

I don't know anything about that school..sorry...////

1700 even a 1900 is very low for princeton (probably somewhat equivalent to a 1060-1230 in rite nows SAT) the average 50% range is 1390 or so to low 1500s....i would say with that SAT score you have basically no chance unless u have some kind of amazing achievement. u must realize that many of the applicants will have a 2200+

i'd hope that SAT 1 is not that important...

the new sat ranges are confusing!! how do you compare a score on the new sat to a score on the old one? is there a conversion table or something?

Really it has to do with your writing score; if you add your writing SAT2 to your current SAT1, that's what you get.

But if you do it straight percentage-wise, here's what you get: (yes I am very bored)

1600 - 2400
1590 - 2385
1580 - 2370
1570 - 2355
1560 - 2340
1550 - 2325
1540 - 2310
1530 - 2295
1520 - 2280
1510 - 2265
1500 - 2250
1490 - 2235
1480 - 2220
1470 - 2205
1460 - 2190
1450 - 2175
1440 - 2160
1430 - 2145
1420 - 2130
1410 - 2115
1400 - 2100
1350 - 2025
1300 - 1950
1250 - 1875
1200 - 1800
1150 - 1725
1100 - 1650
1050 - 1575
1000 - 1500
950 - 1425
900 - 1350
850 - 1275
800 - 1200

(if you're one of the inbetweens, just multiply your score by 1.5)

It's as important as it is at any top/ivy school.

then again, it's just a factor...as long as you're above 1350, i don't think it's such a big deal

SAT score is so unimportant, it's funny that people pay all that money getting tutors. If your score lies in a certain range (say 1350-1600), you are game. acceptance is a result of several other factors.

ValdezVivasMR,

i remember you got in ED right? hope you're right on the sat score thing.

If SATs weren't important, they wouldn't ask for them.

they ask for a lot of things... doesn't mean whatever they ask for is important... if you think SATs are important just because they're asked for.. then i don't know... they ask for your high school teacher's names, phone number, your school address, and Princeton even asks what's your favorite websites and such.. i don't think they are as important as the SATs..

i just wanted to get a relative importance of the sat compared to other numbers for an applicant.

they dont ask for ur high school teacher's name

they need ur fone number/school address for contact? thats important or else they cant have u as a contact intheir system

i LOVE the princeton favorites - its what truly separates princeton from other schools. by doing princeton's app and doing the favorites it made me feel like they actually care/try to want to know who i am rather than ask 2 or 1 generic essay question. their essays were also personal, me gusta mucho!

everything is important, some are just more important =P

i think SAT is one of the more important things at the top with GPA but its downplayed since everyone does well on them, but if u dont do well on them it will definitely hurt you a lot =P

Lots of talk about being 1350+.....

What would you guys say about getting deferred with a 1250 old sat (rather than being rejected?). Does that mean the application is still worth considering? I hope so...
