Hi everyone, I did the sat June's as my first trial. Was not counted thou. Now am studying and looking forward to the October one, that will count.

My June score was a 1470 is it good?
530 Math
370 Cr
570 Wr (7 writing)

I got this score after studying.
I finished the blue book..
Any recommendation for a study plan to make me score a 1600-1800 on October or is it possible?
Please help.

For math, i would say brush up on basic topics and possibly learn some tricks and avoid the SAT traps. (this helped me move from a 690-720)

For reading, one method that I found that worked best with me was active reading. When i read, i wouldnt read the questions b4 hand. while i was reading i would circle key phrases. This was Xiggi’s advice (i think): Instead of trying to convince yourself why an answer is correct…play devil’s advocate and try to convince yourself why the answer is wrong. My prep teacher tld me that ur looking for the LSA (Least Stupidest answer) (using these methods, my score has moved from a 630 to a 690…not great but a decent improvement)

For the writing the ONLY thing that worked for me was learning the grammatical rules. I think there is no other way to do good in this section besides learning the rules. I would STRONGLY suggest the Kaplan SAT book (moved my score from a 580 with a 6 essay to a 720 still w. a 6 essay) Im currently working on my essay writing skills so i can hopefully get at least a 10

also i brushed up on my vocab. Most ppl suggest using “direct hits” but I borrowed the “rocket revolution” book from my library and im currently using it. Making the flashcards for the words=tedious but the 5 hours were worth it cause i know 200/323 words so far.

wait, dont tell me you finished all ten practice tests in the BB and still got a 1470. you need some serious help. what schools are u trying to get in to. i can tell u how to get their wwanted sat score. for now, get some more prep books.
