SAT in College

Hey All,

I wish I did better on my SAT's in high school, can I take it again in college?

I'm an undergraduate freshman right now, but my SAT in high school was 1960...obviously not Brown material.

Should I take the SAT again? If I do I want to try the ACT as long as it's ranked the same by Ivies. But I've also heard SAT's aren't placed under heavy consideration for Transfer.

Thoughts?

I believe the SAT is used to provide the colleges with a good sense of the applicant’s academic capability in doing college work. If you have proved that you are more than qualified to handle the course rigor of an ivy-league institution, I don’t think your SAT scores will be detrimental to your application as a transfer student.
More than anything, I have heard that your college GPA can make or break your application along with professor recommendation (i’m not sure about recs though). If you can prove to Brown that you are better suited to be in an ivy-league school, I don’t think your SAT scores will get in your way.
That being said, although you CAN register, I’m not sure if Brown will weigh your SAT scores very heavily. It’s intended for college-bound seniors, not college transfer students.

When you’'re applying as a transfer for schools as competitive as those, every little thing helps. Many people are applying with 4.0’s already so if you can retake the SAT for a better score by all means go for it.
