many students have told me that although the new sat formally has 3 sections, in admission process, the verbal section is counted as sat subject tests and the math + critical reading are recombined to give the students SAT?

is that a myth or is that true???????

I think you mean the writing section, but hmmm I think it depends on the school and the year being considered, b/c I believe there are some schools which formally recognize that they consider the writing section similar to that of an SAT II, plus some schools will possibly be hesitant for one more year about counting the writing section until they can get an exact percentile list, though that's not to keep schools from comparing among their applicant pool. Though there are definitely schools that will consider it part of the SAT and use it towards the composite score, so...

yeah..i meant the writin sec...

The writing section is not counted as an SAT II. It;s just part of the new look SAT.

UConn does this. When I visited the campus back in May, they had one of those 30 minute informational sessions before the main tour began. During that session, they mentioned that the writing section would be treated as an SAT II: If you did well, it would help you, and if you did poorly, it would be ignored and not counted against you.
