i think the curve is pretty generous...i thought i had bombed the reading comp but i ended up getting a 790 and i KNOW there were like, 3 or 4 i had missed at least.

I haven't taken it, but am also planning to. I'd be interested to hear any personal experiences with the test... assuming we can find someone who took it, that is. :P

Latin has a pretty generous curve... on the practice test i took, it said you could get six questions wrong (ie, lose eight points) and still get an 800. I know i got at least one or two wrong, and i got an 800. Idk how accurate the practice curve was, though. My score report said that 800 was the 96th percentile, which seems like a good curve, if 1/25 people gets an 800.

The exam really isn't very hard if you're a good latin student. If your vocab is strong and you have good translation skills (ie, you can figure out for the most part what a sight translation is saying), it's really not that bad. Brush up on obscure grammar points... the comparative adverbs stumped me!

I think I'm the only person who thought that the SAT II was hard! :( I'm not expecting much, so hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised when scores come out.

My daughter thought it was pretty hard, too, spiceupyourlife. She seemed to feel better about it afterwards than she expected she would... but she says she knows she didn't ace it either. She's just hoping for anything at or above 700. I know it's not that high on the percentile rank, but it's her 5th SATII and all the others have been really high, so she figures if the 5th one is somewhat lower it won't matter too much.

But yeah... she thought it was a challenging test. She's only about half way through the 2nd semester of her second year of Latin (she does it by correspondence course because it's not taught anywhere around here), but in her Latin text they're not learning anymore grammar to speak of at this point, it's almost all translation. She said, in spite of not having so many years of Latin behind her, she was as ready as she needed to be -- given that she's not expecting or even really looking for a perfect score or anything like that.

Mostly she'll be happy to get through de Bello Gallico in her Latin course. It goes on and on and on!
