SAT Mar - May

When I took the SAT in March, I got a 1230/1600 and 1710/2400 with no practice at all.

580 CR
650 M
480 Wr

This time in May, i took a SAT course and studied a decent amount and got a 1220/1600 and 1740/2400

540 CR
680 M
520 Wr

Superscore: 580 CR
680 M (1260)
520 Wr (1780)

I felt I did much better on the test this time and was fairly disappointed with my scores. After the review class and self-studying I thought I would increase my score for cetain. Should I retake the SAT? I am taking the subject tests (math II and physics, already have 700 on bio:M) June 2nd and want to pursue engineering. Are these SAT scores suitable for fairly good engineering schools? Should I take the ACT?

Your scores are fine for some schools, not high enough for others. A good place to start is with a goal in mind.

Like this:

Goal: Become an awesome engineer —> Go to a decent engineering school → Texas A&M is a decent engineering school —> Texas A&M needs a 1800 combined score with 650 math → Retake sat with 1800 goal

Something like that would help you decide if you want to re-take SAT. If you take it without a goal, you won’t know what is good enough. Heck, what if you only need MR 1200. You already have that…
