I was noticing the UNC recommends that everyone take the SAT Math 2 exam before orientation so that you can register for classes. What if you are in calculus and expect to get a passing score on the AP exam? Do you still need to take it? Are you not allowed to register for Chem 101 for instance if you don't have it at orientation or do you have to wait on AP scores and try to get in after AP scores are out? Thanks!

^^^^^hey, I read that, too, in the packet they sent when we got admitted. I do think we need to take it and have those SAT Math 2 scores sent to Carolina.

My son is a freshman and had this same issue last summer. They strongly suggest you take the Math SAT II for placement but he had a perfect math score on SAT I and took AP Calculus BC with confidence. He did not go to orientation with SAT II scores but did bring his report card showing his grades in AP Calc. They allowed him to register but told him if he did not get AP credit they would drop his courses and he would then have to try to register for appropriate level course which is difficult to get into especially after all freshman register. Good Luck.
