SAT math help

So on the March SAT I got 600 math, 780 critical reading and 710 writing. I plan on retaking it in June and definitely will focus my studying on bringing math way up. Two questions: If I manage to significantly improve my math score, will the initial 600 hurt my chances at colleges that want all your scores? I know it looks good to improve but will the low score still count against me? UPenn, for example, is pretty much my dream school.
Also, any tips on improving math would be much appreciated. I just feel kind of blocked when it comes to this section. It's frustrating because I'm generally a strong math student in school but when it comes to the SATs, I completely freeze. I definitely made a lot of stupid mistakes in the March SAT, gah.

Don’t despair on the math section - it’s really more of a logic game - esp in the med and hard questions.

Get the Official SAT Study Guide (the Blue Book) and starting working through the Math sections. You can find explanations for every question here: [Welcome to the Official SAT Study Guide Book Owner’s Area](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>SAT Study Guide – SAT Suite | College Board)

As you keep doing more math sections, you should start seeing patterns - both in the kinds of questions they ask, the traps that are in questions, and the types of questions you consistently get wrong. Make sure you go over all the ones you got wrong to understand where you went wrong.

Study up on areas that are problems (slopes? functions? reminders?) - your math teacher or a friend (who’s scored higher in the SAT math section) can be good resources.

Good luck!
