I am currently signed up for math level II test in June. My guidance counselor said that Math I was not worth taking if I am taking level II. Should I also take level I and try to get ~800? Or does college think that I am just loading my resume...? Thanks.

Colleges prefer Math II and it has a nicer curve.

Math II will give you a higher score if you are familiar with the pre-calc material. Math I has a very difficult curve, better to avoid it if you can.

Yes, Math II has a much more generous curve than Math I does, and if you’re going to finish precalc or the equivalent by June, you’re better off taking Math II. It’s not worth it to go back and take Math I bc it only covers up to Algebra 2/Geometry, not precalc.

I reccomend taking the level 2 test. The curve is much more generous, and the difficulty is about equivalent to level 1. On practice tests, I scored significatnly lower on the level 1 tests than the level 2 tests. All of the level 2 practice tests I took I scored 800s, but the level 1 tests I took I scored maximum 720.
