If Im done with Precal my junior year, which math level should I take?

You should take Math II. Try the practice tests in “The Official Study Guide for All SAT Subject Tests” and “The Official SAT Subject Tests in Mathematics Levels 1 & 2 Study Guide” to see how well you understand the topics covered.

Also, know that the curve for Math II is a lot more lenient (better) than that for Math I. You may still get an 800 if you get 5 wrong out of 50 (or 60? I don’t remember). On the Math I, however, you lose your 800 upon getting 1-2 questions wrong. The only people who should take Math I are those who did/will not know pre-cal or trig by the end of their junior year.

Could you take both MathI/II and send those to colleges? I plan on doing MathII in Oct (finished precalc this year) and figured I might as well do Math I too since it cant hurt.

I also think i might take Lit, any advice for that test? Isn’t it just like CR but supposedly harder?

I think most colleges accept either I or II (and don’t usually take both) , the only reason to take both is to see which one you’d perform better on. Not positive though…

There is no point in taking Math I. But obviously you can take it if you want to. But it won’t help you, and if it does the difference would be negligible.

The Literature subject test is very different from CR. It is not exactly harder (although it probably is), but, rather, it is completely different. The passages are not everyday passages. They are historical passages (passages from different time periods), and they cover poems, excerpts from long works, and essays. A lot of the language is very uncommon and very difficult to comprehend for the average reader nowadays.

For example: [Literature Subject Test - SAT Subject Test in English Literature Practice Questions](http://sat.collegeboard.com/practice/practice-test-section-start?practiceTestSectionIDKey=Subject.LITERATURE&pageId=practiceSubjectTestLiterature&header=Literature&subHeader=SAT%20Subject%20Test%20in%20Literature%20Practice&conversationId=ConversationStateUID_2)

do you mean that colleges won’t accept both? or is it because its just better to take math ii?

cuz right now my only decent sat ii is a 710 bio and i think i’d get higher than that on math i/ii so those could possibly be the two i could send to colleges

take math II. it’s a lot more of the stuff you just finished learning in precalc so it’ll be fresh in your mind

i plan on taking math ii, just wanna know if you could take math i too and send that to colleges too.

edit: thats prolly directed towards belly, nvm. and yeah, take math ii instead of math i

colleges won’t accept both. and if you send ANY sat II’s I’m pretty sure they get to see ALL of them, so there’s no real advantage to taking both and seeing which one you do better on, because colleges will get to see both scores too

wait, I’m pretty sure there is score choice for sat ii’s where you just select the two specific ones you want to send. so they dont see every one you’ve taken unless you choose to send all of them. right?

Colleges will accept both, and colleges–even the colleges that don’t accept score choice–only see the SAT II scores you send them. Although some want you to send all your SAT I scores, I don’t think any school wants you to send all your SAT II scores.

Such score choice only applies to paid/“flexible” score reports. The free score reports that they give you upon registration only allow you to send by test date (meaning if you took Math I and Math II on the same date you have to send both or neither); only paid, or “flexible” score reports (the ones they give you if you have used a fee waiver before), allow you to send by individual test (you can pick whichever tests you want to send regardless of test date).

thanks for the info crazy. i’ll mainly focus on math ii and lit but ill take math i third just to see since i might be able to do well.

did you understand the poem in that link above?

The Math 1 curve is terrible. Take Math 2.

damn, that poem was quite tough (6/10 on that mc…) maybe ill think about taking some other subject but i don’t see what other one i can take.

this year i took honors physics/precalc, ap us, and ap eng, but im terrible at US so i dont plan on taking that. I dont think i know enough physics to do well on that sat ii. so i was left with lit but now it seems that its a bit too hard…

idk what to take other than the maths.

halp
