SAT Math II situation

Just wondering if this is possible. I took calculus already, but I did poorly in it. I'm planning on taking the SAT Math IIC for math placement at NC State. Here is the placement chart for NCSU:
Course/ Min. Score
Pre-Calc / 450
Algebra & Trig. or Elements of Calc. / 480
Calc. Life (science majors) / 520
Calculus (math/engineer majors) / 550

I took a few practice tests and got around 600, but since I did bad in calculus, I want to take pre-calc in college to get a better understanding. Is it possible for me to take pre-calc. even if I place into Calculus? Are they going to force me to take my placed math course?

hmmm. . . I don't think any college would make you take a course you didn't want to- though maybe you'll do better in calculus the second time around. So I'm sure they'll let you take pre-calc if that's what you want to take.
