I'm planning to take the the SAT IIC MATH (The harder SAT II MAth one) by the beginning of next school year (September 2007) or middleish (Dec 07 - Jan 08). Only issue is that this year I'm taking Algebra II/ Trig and next year I'm going to Calculus (I'm skipping Pre-Calc).

I'm planning to take classes (not based on school curriculum) and study from the school Pre-Calc book over the summer (and work my butt off) as well as studying from the SAT Math IIC book (Princeton Review). Does anyone forsee any difficulties for me taking the SAT Math IIC if I skip Precalc (but review over the summer)?

Well, I haven't taken the SAT/PSAT math (I'm a freshman this year, sophmore next year so I'm going to take the PSAT next year). And the reason I'm skipping Pre-Calc is that well actually yeah, basically a bunch of factors such as not overloading on APs my junior year and spreading out my course load. I'm not even too sure if I'm 'so smart' anymore. I'm acing Alg 2/ Trig and spoke to my teacher and she didn't recommend it. But the reason I had doubts about the teacher recommendation is because she didn't recommend anyone, even the "true geniuses" (they skipped from geometry to Calc and then aced it). Then I asked upperclassmen who have taken the class and they said 'oh you'll be fine'...so I have my doubts everywhere.

Skipping pre-calculus is a silly idea, though. Not because you can't learn the material, but the fact that you may not actually study over the summer because you're distracted.

If you're able to actually do the curriculum on your own over the summer, then skipping it is a good idea. But I've rarely seen people willing to spend an entire summer doing school-work.
