SAT Math Level 1 or Level 2?

Hi!
I am looking to apply to 2-3 Ivies as an international student doing the IB program (Early decision to one of them).
My IB transcript and predicted grades are in the range (40+ points) and my extracurriculars are pretty good as are my summer experiences.

My dilemma comes to taking the SAT subject tests. I am doing French and either math level 1 or math level 2. Given that my intended major is most likely to be Sociology (definitely a humanities oriented/social sciences based individual), am I at a disadvantage if I do Math Level 1? Is Level 2 generally given more prestige or make me a less competitive candidate?

Thank you for your time :)

Most readily accept either Math 1 or 2 and it makes no difference which. Be aware that Stanford recommends math 2 if you submit a math. Ivies take either. Check any particular colleges to which you may apply to assure they do not have a rule against accepting math 1. Also, think through which you might take (do you have any practice tests) because it has been reported by many that the curve is better for math 2 and that if you have taken through pre-calculus, you might actually do better on math 2.

math 1 is very similar to SAT math, so if you took the SAT and did well on the math, it’s pretty much the same thing. Math 2 shows mastery of more advanced math if you can score well.

Do Math 2 if you’ve learned most of the stuff on it.

I believe there are samples on the CB website. They do test different areas of math.

If you’ve taken Prealc, definaetly have Math 2. It’s easier to get an 800 on 2 than 1 if you’ve taken prcalc.
