So, I took the Barron’s SAT Math II Diagnostic Test a few weeks ago, to start preparing (I’m a rising junior), and I scored a 690. Not bad but not too good either. Two weeks later, after some very (and I mean extremely) light preparation, I took an officially proctored practice test. To my great surprise, I scored a 790. A 100-point score improvement. Is this normal? Which of the two scores should I take more seriously? Is the diagnostic test harder than most practice tests, or did I just happen to take a really easy test the second time around? Any advice you may have on further preparation would also be helpful.
Good scores, but don’t take either of them too seriously because they are not real tests and thus the curve is just an estimate.
However, the Barron’s tests tend to skew harder than the real thing, sometimes significantly so, which means that you are doing well so far. But there are a variety of math topics which could show up on the Math 2 exam, so keep going and make sure to take all the tests, as well as review your errors carefully and repeatedly by trying the questions again from scratch–not just reading the correct solutions/answers.
