SAT Math Question. (Sequences)

In a certain sequence where the numbers are increasing, the difference between consecutive terms is always the same. If the 4th term in the sequence is 19 and the 11th term is 47, what is the 1st term in the sequence?

I'm having a hard time on this one. Could anyone figure it out and explain it?

Thank you. :)

from term 4 to term 11 the increase is 47-19=28. So each increment is 28/(11-4)=4. since the 4th term is 19, the 1st one must be 19 - 4 - 4 - 4=7. i hope this is correct.

It’s correct!

Thank you schmluza!

what did you study for math sec tion? any specific site or books…everyone seems to be studying the same things as i am…but their scores are still higher…
