SAT math question

if f(x)=(x-1)(2x-1)/ (x-2)(3x-1) ; what is one possible value of x for which f(x) is not a real number? Please answer as soon as you can! and please explain how u got the answer.

x = 2
x = 1/3

This is because the roots of the denominator are:

  1. x - 2 = 0
    x = 2
  2. 3x - 1 = 0
    x = 1/3

Since the denominator of a fraction cannot be zero (division by 0 rule), f(x) is not a real number when x = 2 or x= 1/3.

The values are 2 and 1/3. Just look for the values which make the denominator equal 0

2 and 1/3. denominator cant equal 0 or else the number doesnt exist
