If 0< or equal to x < equal to y and (x+y)^2 - (x-y)^2 > or equal to 25 what is the least possible value of y?
The answer is 5/2.
How do you go about this problem?

A telephone company charges x cents for the first minute of a call and charges for any additional time at the rate of y cents per minute. If a certain call costs $5.55 and lasts more than 1 minute, which of the following expressions represents the length of that call, in minutes?

the answer is (555 x+y) / y
How????

In the figure above, AC= 6 and BC=3. Point P (not shown) lies on line AB between A and B such that line CP is perpendicular to line AB. Which of the following could be the length of CP?
It give you a picture of a triangle ABC.
it says the answer is 2 but how would this be done?

The famous filmmaker A[had a tendency] B[of changing] his recollections, perhaps C[out of boredom] D[at having] to tell interviews the same story over and over. E[No error]

The answer is B
is if "to changing" or "for changing" or what?

The opposing opinions expressed [were that the school should be torn down and, on the other hand, to keep it] as a historical landmark.
a. as is
b. was that the school should be torn down or kept
c. were that the school should be torn down and that it should be kept
d. were about them tearing the school down and them keeping the school
e. were if they should tear the school down and keeping it

The answer is C. Can someone explain this to me? I thought the entire thing was awful and that none of the answers sounded quite right.

18) (x+y)2 -(x-y)2 >=25
→ 4xy >=25
And, 0<=x<=y, so the minimum of y equals x
→ 4y2 >=25
→ y2 >=25/4
→ y min = 5/2

19) Take k be the length of that call , in minutes.
From the question, we have the formula: x.1 + y(k-1) = money paid = 555
→ y(k-1) = 555-x
→ k-1 = (555-x)/y
→ k = (555-x)/y +1 = (555-x+y)/y

16) I think the length of CP is surely smaller than BC and AC (CP < 3), so its length must be 1 or 2. Is this a multiple choice or grid-in question?

25) It should be “to change”
13) The opposing opinions are plural so we eliminate choice A and B.
Choice D and E use the word “keeping” illogically–> so the final answer must be C.

Hope this help you :)

Yeah 16 is a MC. And thanks so much for this, it really helped!

Since CP is perpendicular to AB, triangle CPB is right, so CP must be any value between 0 and 2, inclusive.

A is wrong because there is inconsistency in verb tenses (torn down- past)(keep it- present).
B is wrong because “was” is singular, even though it represents “the opposing opinions” which is plural.
D is wrong because there is no reference of who “them” is.
E is wrong because of inconsistent verb tenses and “keeping it” is very awkward and wrong without a subject for that verb.

C is correct because it has the correct plural verb (were), the sentence flows smoothly, and the verb tenses are all correctly in the past tense “torn down” and “kept”
