<p>I know this a very common topic but I need some advice. I'm starting to really prepare for the June 2nd SAT and CR and Writing aren't too bad. Math on the other hand is horrible. I look at the problems and start to freak out about not knowing what to do. I'm not a bad math student. I have been in honors math since 7th grade and I am going on to AP Cal. I really have no idea why this anxiety comes over me when I look at SAT problems though. Does anyone have any advice on how to conquer the math anxiety and how to score above 700 on the math? I hope to break the 2000 mark and for one the programs I hope to apply for requires a combined verbal and math score of 1400. </p>
<p>I have Barrons for Math strategies and the BB to for practice problems and tests. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

<p>Keep a notebook for concepts from questions you miss. Every time you miss a question write down the concept/reason for missing it in the notebook. Review the notebook and a few weeks before the test go through all the practice questions you’ve missed before and try to do them. Most important part isn’t just the practice, but figuring out why you missed questions so you don’t do it again. Breaking 2000s really do able. </p>
<p>My math wasn’t great the first time I took it, but the second time I upped it significantly above a 700 with only putting in a little work doing this.</p>
<p>Lagging, did you come up with that method yourself? I did something similar a while back, but I actually cut out the problems.</p>
<p>Look over the math topics, and if some topics really stick out at you as something you need to work on, then go do those types of problems. Or, you can take a test from the BB, and see what types of problems you got wrong, and then work on those problems. Whatever you deem fit. :)</p>

<p>I second YoungProdigy’s advice with one caveat:</p>
<p>Review what you got wrong, look up similar problems <em>with the same difficulty level</em> and work on those.</p>

<p>@onefishtwofish, OP has time to do all of the questions regardless of difficulty level, since OP is taking the SAT on June 2nd. Hence, I still think that OP should do ALL of the questions, regardless of difficulty level, of all the categories he/she is having trouble on.</p>
