sat math

just wondering does it look bad if yo have had a low sat math scroe like 700 then 710?

What on earth gave you the idea that a 710 math score was low? By MIT standards, it's not "high", but it's not going to cause you to be rejected.

700+ puts you in the competitive range, so don't worry about it. Your SAT is in a range such that it won't affect your admission one way or the other.

Hi. waves

I got a 700 on the math reasoning exam.

Sincerely,
Current MIT student.

Don't be so hasty, 750+ is indeed a little better than a 700, MIT doesn't ignore the SAT score completely, and 700 is below the median
So if you feel like you got screwed when you took the test and you deserve a 750+, there's nothing wrong with taking it again
On the flip side, you won't get looked down on in any way by admissions for having a 700, so if that's the score you get on average in practice tests, just focus on the other (more important) parts of your app

No one is saying that MIT ignores the SAT score... just that a score of 700 isn't really going to affect your admissions that much. It's not 750+, yeah, but if you don't get in, it's not like having an 800 would have "pushed you over the edge."
