How do I go about studying for the math section of the SAT I? I know xiggi's method is great but I need some specifics for math. Do I use the blue book to get the shortcuts for math problems? I go back and correct my problems after I take a practice test ( I use separate sections of practice tests) but my score still stays in between like 580 -690.
How can I improve math quickly? I just want a 740 at most.

Well, If you keep getting between 580 and 690, then there is probably a lack of knowledge of some of the material. My suggestion would be to do some concept reviewing/learning, and reading some strategies before you attempt any practice tests. I would suggest Gruber’s and Barron’s for reviewing math. Barron’s actually helped me a lot with strategy, although I wouldn’t suggest doing any practice tests from either of them. Once you’ve thoroughly reviewed your SAT math, try doing one SAT practice section per day.

Something like this:

Mon - 1 Math Section
Tues - 1 Reading Section
Wed - 1 Writing Section

etc.

You will be surprised at how much you will improve. Don’t try and do a full practice test a day or something crazy like that, because that’s going to lower the effectiveness of studying, and you’re not going to get as much out of it as if you were to take it little by little. Seriously give this a try, I improved my math score from 570 to 740.

Also, only do official CB tests.

How do you go about studying for the math from the bluebook?

Do I just go over the entire math section and read and do the practice problems at the end of the chapters?
