Where are you guys prepping from? Got a 770 last time I wrote :frowning: I had only done Barron’s. Hoping for an 800 this time

I prepared quite extensively for the december one. Got an 800 but I thought I did terribily. I did all of the barrons practice tests, dr chang’s practice tests, and the few real tests released. I ended up leaving 3 blank because I ran out of time. Apparently I was pretty accurate on all the other questions lol. I would recommend not doubting yourself because I did that for the first half of the exam even though those questions were really easy. Because of that, I ran out of time to do the last few questions which were not difficult in retrospect.

@alwaysrunning thanks for the advice

Hey guys! I got an 800 in December, so I hope I can pass on some useful information

I used Barron’s. I only prepped for 2.5 weeks before the real thing, as a Calc AB student who took Pre-Calc last year. I generally scored low on my 5 Barron’s tests, ranging from 580-670. However, Barron’s helped me with time management, and made the real exam feel easy in comparison. Be aware that Barron’s requires more use of a graphing calculator than the real exam. The biggest thing I was worried about going into the exam was my lack of knowledge of conics. If you find you have some content gaps, don’t worry! In my case, conics didn’t even come up, but you only have to get about 44/50 to get an 800 anyways, so just skip the ones you don’t know. Also, I struggled with probability, so make sure to review that if you’re not confident with it. Finally, just relax! This test is honestly pretty easy if you budget your time wisely and practice the really crucial skills like trig, probability, and algebra. The questions aren’t too tricky on the real thing. Good luck!

@Studious99

How many hours a day did you study? Thanks for the good advice.

I tried to do a practice test every other day, then spend about 30-60 minutes analyzing my errors the next day. Overall, about 45 minutes to an hour a day, although I didn’t stick to that perfectly.

I’ve used Barron’s, but didn’t really like it. Has anybody used the Princeton book??

I’m currently in Calculus class (got an A last semester) and took Accelerated Pre Calc last year. I signed up for Math 1, but after research, I decided to go for Math II.

I’m really nervous though because this is the only date I can take SAT IIs to qualify for MIT, CMU, and RPI regular decision & it will be my first time taking any SAT subject exams. So, I need to do very well - like 750+.

Any tips? I ordered Barrons and Dr. Chungs and they will be here by Wednesday. In the meantime, I’ll study for Biology E and review some Math I concepts.

I got a 620 when I took this test in November with zero prep, and it’s looking like I’m going to need to actually study to get a 750 on this. I’m a senior, so this is my last chance. I’m aiming very high with my colleges, but I don’t think I’ll be able to get very high on this test. I remember thinking it was easy while I was taking it in November, I don’t know why I didn’t do well.

I also need to retake physics, which I got a 670 on. I’m even more worried about the physics test because I don’t remember physics, I took it last year.

I’m shooting for a 700 on physics and a 750 on math 2. Good luck everyone!

@anon9362 What did you use to study for physics? Just Barrons? The reviews are mediocre on Amazon, so I’m wary of using it.

I took Math2 and US History in June without any prepare for Math and with much focused prepare for Us history Anyway score was not good (Math 620, Us. History 520). Then i took them again in November. Realizing that i had to prepare math in order to get 750+, I finished Barron’s, Princeton, and Official book’s MAth 2 but the score was again disaster! MAth2 660, Us history 590. Now i hope i can get Math 750+ Us History 600+. I ordered Mr Chung’s book and i have the old books. Is there anyone who suggest some advice to me? only 40 points with much hard preparing. What do you say?

@Khusel if you have time, it might be wiser to take a different subject test instead of Math 2 and US History again. Math 2 might be salvageable if you study more… have you ever scored over 700 on a practice test? It must be disappointing to feel like your hard work is not reflected in your scores, but at this point it might be wise to abandon those particular subjects and focus on your classwork so that one of your current classes can hopefully pan out to a successful SAT II this June or fall.

@Studious99 thanks for your advise. Yep, I always got 700+ in Princeton and official’s test but 650+ sometimes 700 on Barron’s. I was pretty sure that i can get Math 2 750+. the thing is my interested major is economic and political science so i think i need to get enough competitive scores on this two tests to show my interest to colleges, you know. For other tests, i can take with Physics but it is not related to future major.

Well, when I studied for the Math 2 I only used barrons and still scored a 800 (did not take calculus, was in the middle of precalc at the time). The trick is to find out tricks in the exam. I did not answer a single probability question on the test. However I did make sure I knew every single limit problem. My suggestion for the Math 2 is to play the test. Know how many questions you can get wrong to still get an 800. Know which problems you’re going to skip. Don’t overthink any of the problems; msot of the time I just had an idea what the question meant and just plugged it into my calculator (remember you can program certain formulas onto the calculator if youre not good at memorization)

I got a 700 on the Barrons test. I’ve heard that barrons is a lot harder than the real thing. Do you think I will get an 800 on the real thing?

I studied from Barron’s and got a 770 in Math 2. Physics I think Princeton Review is really good and for Chemistry Barron’s is amazing. I got 800 in physics and chemistry so far, hoping for an 800 in math 2

@WinnerWannabe try to aim for 730+ on barrons to be safe.

Ok. Thanks.

Hey guys, I finished Barrons SAT Math 2 book, but i dont know if i want to buy a new book. Can you send me some links to online tests?
Thanks
