SAT May 2009 Writing

If you chose A, you would change flying to flew, therefore avoiding the run-on occurring after the comma, right?

lol its definitely A-- the question wasnt even a sentence

but if you chose A, then it would say wings Beating, ears tuned and something else ending in ‘ed’, which isnt parallel

Wouldn’t they be in the same tense, wings “beated” would make no sense.

wait i’m sooo confused now. was the owl question an identify the error or improving sentences?

wait what would be in the same tense? flew and beating tuned… or flying beat tuned

don’t really know, but if you make everything -ed, beating would become beated and that makes no sense.

past tense for beat is beat without ‘ed’

you would not have to change the tense of beating, it wasn’t being used as a verb, it was a participle

so “with ears tuned and wings beat”?

still is fishy.

Ari7, thats possible maybe i wasn’t really paying much attention, but i def. sure it had to be A or B… Anyone remember a qusetion in the last writing section about architecture and buildings, was the ans Never had we seen?

“Never having seen …, we were amazed at the large size and stature…”

heavily paraphrasing

@Jtran92: i picked “never having seen…”

Yep, I’m certain that never having seen was correct.

Reasoning: “We have never seen” or any of the choices like that meant to independent clauses which have to be separated by a semicolon or dash. A comma would result in a comma splice.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s no error. A lot of people picked “need not” just because it doesn’t sound colloquial.

which question are you guys talking about? i remember there is one i corrected that “not seeing something before, we were amazed…”

So 4 no errors?

Truck/safety
Butterfly
Rhino
Children on cruise (was this experimental?)

Yeah, that Children one was experimental. I never got that.

Wait, can someone explain why the “Wendy” question had an error?

woahwaohwaoh which one was the butterfly one? i had an error for that one…

and which is the Wendy question?
