@a1a: that was a question about an author at his deathbed but didn’t publish his novel because it was not sufficiently polished. is there anything wrong with " on (the) grounds of not being sufficiently published?" i think it should be " on the grounds that…" or " on the grounds of its not being sufficiently polished’?

^ yes, it was having never seen.

what do you guys think the writing curve for this test will be? harsh? average? generous?

no, i think 1a1 isn’t talking about the deathbed one…there was another one in the 10 min section. about some woman who revises before she sends to her editor or something

@genie17: I think we’re talking about 2 different questions. That one had pronoun ambiguity towards the end I think.

I’m talking about some author who was always revising before sending to the editor. Can anybody confirm this has no error?

@a1a: that was a question about an author at his deathbed but didn’t publish his novel because it was not sufficiently polished. is there anything wrong with " on (the) grounds of not being sufficiently published?" i think it should be " on the grounds that…" or " on the grounds of its not being sufficiently polished’?

There was ambiguity of pronoun in that question, if I recall correctly.

Yea I put for the Virgil deathbed that answer.

For the woman publishing I put no error.

For the guy with his parents taking him to music concerts or something, it was taking right? It should have been have taken.

@thequestionmark: That’s what I put, but for the other question about revision (revising before sending to the editor, I believe it was the last identifying errors question), did you put no error?

I don’t remember… I only had 2 no errors, though I know for sure there was at least a third. I marked of “making a name FOR herself” cause I thought the correct usage was “of”. Apparently it doesn’t matter so I’m at least -2 right now. (with 3 in contention).

I think “making a name for herself” is correct, so hopefully that is no error.

I remember contempplating something like that, it should be making a name FOR herself

i said no error for making a name for herself and i had 3 no errors for that last 10 min section

@Jtran92: so you put no error for “making a name for herself, she never sent work to the editor before revising many times”.

if the original sentence said making a name for herself then yeah i put no error i just don’t remember the exact sentence to give you a direct answer, i had 3 no errors for the 35 question section and i had like 2 or 3 correct as written for the final 10minute section

I thought Virgil had ambiguity

Women publishing I put no eror

And the for guy with the love of music it was right after the comma, “parents took” or something vaguely like that

Oh, if that was the question you are referring to,

the answer is no error. I remember making sure b c d were grammatically correct. I goofed up and circled A - I’ll just blame the fact that the last book I’ve actually read was probably Harry Potter in 7th grade…

I wasn’t sure about the revising - now that I think about it, was there a noun in front of it? like revising it

@d12345 - you mean , taking?

@1a1- yes that was the error

For the last question in the 10 minute section was it “producing” or “those of producing”?

are you talking about the question with recycable cans?. that ans would be than “those of producing”

I remember the “need not” question had an error… it was towards the end, though. Maybe D… I remember thinking “oh nice trick. Need not is correct, so, seeing as this question is at the begining, it must be a correct sentence”… then I found the error.

What did you guys put for…

“the sunflowers stood, their heads drooping…” thing?

I put The sunflowers standing… their heads drooped. prob wrong.

So for no errors, these 4?

Rhino (greater than/more than controversy)
Large truck/safety
Woman publishing (revising before sending to editor; was there something wrong with the word revising in this context?)
Butterfly

Also, was the identifying errors question about the river that annually flooded but not anymore experimental?
