SAT May 2009 Writing

Each is singular but the verb after it…
The sentence went along the lines of “…thousands of microscopic scales, each of which being the product of a single cell.”
Damn I’m good.
‘Being’ was a choice, that’s what I put now that I think about it.

ingette, i remember that one and agree 100%

@ h00dr1chh: no, the sentence used “is”. not being.

I promise you, it used being.

doesn’t matter, still no error.

maybe, but i can also guarantee it used “is” following the “of” clause after “each”. i distinctly remember this. (in fact i wrote “or are?” right above it)

anyone else recall butterfly wings?

^^
Yeah, and the first thing “pattern” is wrong, should be “patterns”.

it was no error

Isn’t it talking about only one butterfly, so no error?

@genie17. i put “sought” for that one… something about on his deathbed, he sought to destroy the books? I thought “had sought” might’ve better… but i’m probably wrong ughhh. had a lot of trouble with that one.

butterfly wing no error.
rhino no error.
drivers/trucks/size and shape no error.

i def had a few more…

Was the “need not” one No Error?

It was talking about each of the patterns on a butterfly.

@ewaffles

I have 4 E’s I believe, those 3 you listed and the butterfly question.

Are you sure it wasn’t “each pattern on the butterfly?”

@ 1a1
i listed the butterfly question lol.
@xombie, i don’t remember the question haha specify?

has anyone compiled yet?

im pretty sure hte butterfly question was “is”. there were no answer choices with “being”…i think

Hm, waffles, I can’t seem to remember the question but I stared at it a long time and eventually picked E assuming that CB put that in to **** with everyone unaware that “need not” is grammatically acceptable.

i vaguely recall it. i think i might’ve put no error for that too. cause i def did not put “need not”…

what was the answer to the company that gave an award… i think there was a verb problem
