SAT May 2012 Official Discussion

By about how many points can the curve affect your score?

@tttttttt
That question is not exp since I didn’t have a math exp and had that question.

@cchlloe
I don’t recall the system of equations question. Maybe that;s the exp?

My general impressions:
Math: extremely easy
Reading: Average vocab, average passages (the double passage was a joke, but I found the other ones slightly hard)
Writing: I messed up the essay, and the MC was average

I had that toby, I think the answer was 1/6. Also tttttttttt, I had that question and didn’t have math experimental.

One thing I wasn’t sure on was a vocab question about an astronaut. Something like “The astronaut wasn’t descriptive while he was on the moon, he was actually _____”

to anyone that had the writing experimental do you know which one it was. Or those who didnt do you remmeber any questions from the writing?

Yeah systems of equations could have been experimental. What did you guys put for the math one where the choices were percentages for the circle area? I got 800% but I wasn’t sure
I hate reading but I must say that I enjoyed the doll story

I did so good on the experimental and did horrible on the graded section in math :(

the line one, the two numbers had to equal 76, so it was 29 and 47, I believe

Writing experimental was the one on polls

@set1012
I had a writing experimental but am currently having a brain dysfunction lol. Can anyone please tell me which passage you had for writing? Thanks.

Writing: Real was the one about librarians protecting old books
Math: 17 years old, the order of children in line, and what is the highest value of x-y if x^y = 4096 were all REAL

CR: I have two double passage sections, did anyone else??

I predict a math score of like 680, which is funny caus last time I got a 750 . Hope they don’t think of my high score as a fluke.

@light365 I think the answer was LACONIC meaning using very few words.

and can we talk about CR, writing, math in their respective threads? :slight_smile: I think it would be more organized that way.

for those who had writing experimental- was it the second passage or like the 4th? One was a lot harder i think

What was the one with the 6j-1=k one. Was it 1/6

@light365 the answer to that one was laconic!

Math: really easy, pretty sure I didn’t get any wrong

Cr: hmm I found it kinda tough. But I still think I got the correct answers on most.

writing: not too bad

Dra313 I put 62. Took the square root of 4096 and got 64. Then subtracted 64-2

i put 0 for that one

Overall I found the test extremely easy. Which makes me regret not getting to answer some questions. For some reason I kept on losing track of time which in turn caused me to not answer a total of 7 questions.

This SAT was truly easy, especially compared to the March.

All is well, except I will be stressing over the fact that I did not finish. Time to study for APs now. :O

my four CRs:

instant messaging/texting (2 passages)

fluoride in water (2 passages)

girl was given three presents

something about the solar system?

4096^1=4096
4096-1=4095
