After receiving my March SAT scores, my self-esteem plummeted. Let's just say 610 on Math. haha..OH WELL. I did decent in the others. I guess. :/

Does anyone have any rag-to-riches sort of stories? Maybe rising from a 1000 to 2300 in a week? I'd love to hear them. They'll instill a little bit of hope!

**I'll have a month to prep. Is it possible to raise my measly 1910 to 2200+? :D Tips! Books! GOOD GOD I NEED HELP.

I went from a 610 to a 710 in a couple of months; not an amazing score, but it definitely helped my composite. I self-studied using Skills Insight from the collegeboard’s website- you can select different skill sets (200-300, 300-400, 400-500 etc) and it gives you every type of question that could pop up in that skill set. I did every single question starting with the 500-600 section all the way to 700-800 and made sure I got every answer, and understood why it was the answer. I even wrote out the explanation for each one in a specific notebook I kept for studying SAT math. I would highly recommend it. It wasn’t exactly a miracle, but it was an improvement. Other than that- practice tests help you get the hang of the actual test- but don’t just take the math practice test, make sure you take the full thing as if it was a real one b/c otherwise you won’t get the hang of the timing.

I took the SAT in June and got an 1800, then on the PSAT in the fall, a 169.
In March I scored a 2120. While still idiotic by Ivy league and CC standards, I was quite satisfied with my improvement.

I went from a 1240 composite to a 2350 with a month of study. It was mainly because I didn’t know English when I took it (I got 800 Math), so I just went to an English school in one of the neighboring cities in the Tibet Autonomous Region to learn English and I got it within a month or so.

I got a 205 on my PSAT and a 2320 on the SAT. I was predicting a 2280, then I had a dream right before I got a 2340, so even my 2320 was kinda a let down (and the 2340 dream was a false awakening, to make it worse).

hey, I got a 1910 december 2009 sophomore year when I took it. (750 math, 600 reading, 560 writing) and then I took it in march 2011 and got a 2270!
it was pretty exciting.
(790 math, 800 writing, 680 reading)
I didn’t hardcore study either, i read through the princeton review book once. and I did one practice test the week before the SAT.
good luck!
i hope your 1910 rises just like mine!
:D

for writing, read the grammar rules/section in the big barron’s SAT book and take lots of writing practice sections
my writing score greatly increased in the span of around a month

I have a friend who went from an 1750 to a 2360. (Hard worker)
And another one who went from a 1480 to a 2250. (extremely lazy genius)
Another kid went from 1290-2100, but he was of accused of cheating. (I’m pretty sure he actually did as well).

I totally Know what you mean! I took my Sat for the first time in March as a Junior and got a 2060. W: 760 CR:690 M:610…my math score has bummed me out so muchhh but i’m going to study like crazy for the summer and I hope I get a miracle just like one of the people who answered this question. I’m aiming for a 2200, so wish me luck! Oh, and i know it is possible because my friend took it the first time and got a 2020 and then the second time he got a 2240 but he took a prep class
