SAT NEEDS to Go Up 200 Points by Saturday.... Suggestions?

So I only took the SAT once and scored a 2010 on it. I would really like for my scores to at least be in the 2200's, ideally 2300+. Right now only my math score (760) is at a competitive level. I'm confident that my writing score will crack 700 this time around (690), but the crux of my problem is my CR score, a meager 560. After I got my score report back, I found out that I only got 2 vocab questions wrong but a whole lot of passage-based questions wrong. Oh yeah, did I mention that I'm taking the June SAT?! I need help, ideas, etc. and quickly!

redhuntinghat, my scores are from the March SAT and I therefore do not remember any specific question. Ironically, I found out that most of the questions I got wrong were easy and medium-level questions (another enigma that is beyond me) and hardly any of the deemed “harder questions” I got wrong. I’m not sure if I just fell for trap answers due to the time constraint and seemingly easy nature of the questions or if I’m just some hapless individual who sucks at passage-reading and considers everything much more complex than it is. Nevertheless, I would greatly appreciate personal strategies you utilize to achieve your score (which I’m assuming is high, or at the very least, higher than mine).

you’re asking about this now?
if it’s so important to you, why didn’t you start preparing to improve your CR score back in March?

Pray to the Based God

" you’re asking about this now?

My thoughts exactly.

The SAT is not something you can simply cram for.

Well, stressedouttt, that was the original plan, but between one too many EC activities and the unavoidable fact that I’m essentially homeless, SAT prep went undone, and a passive “I’ll just get to it later” was said its fair share of times. But to clarify, I have indirectly been preparing for the section through the work of my AP Lang class, so I’m hoping for the best. Perhaps a prayer or two might have to be rendered, DumbAndLethal; only time will tell.

Practice answering the questions in your own words before you look at the given answer choices, so you know what to look for and don’t get get tricked. This concept alone helped me go from a 620 to a 710

Agree with Hendrix completely. Just try to answer the question in your own words prior to reading the choices.

Thank you! I will definitely try that out.

You can’t really help yourself now. But it’s your mind set and the way you tackle those questions that could raise your score (but not by 200 points). Try to find some methods that work for you that help you figure out those passage based questions. Everyone knows how to read. It’s just the method and approach you take to those questions that improves your score.

I got a 2010 my first time and for the May test I got a 2200. Just practice and don’t stress too much two days before the test

How are you doing so good if your are homeless? I don’t mean to be overbearing but that is indeed an accomplishment. Good luck on Saturday

Buy(or borrow) one last SAT test book. Finish it in one sitting and check it. Look at your mistakes and don’t leave until you understand every last one of them. If possible, do one more and see your progress. If not, pray the actual SAT is much easier. GOOD LUCK!

If you haven’t practiced much CR, you’re not getting a 2300+. Sorry. But 2100+ seems reasonable. You might be getting questions wrong because you fall into the traps. So read carefully.
