SAT Online Course Question

How long does it take for my essay to be scored?

most of the essay scoring takes place on a late friday night after the english teachers have endured a long and stressful week, and are ready to relieve some of that stress by grading harshly on a few dozen pathetic 2-page essays. The teachers are probably given a week or so to logon to a "secure" collegeboard site and laboriously work through essays. I imagine it takes a few hours total for each grader.

What? They are scored by computer, not by people I thought...

oh, you mean the practice one online...

not sure about that one

anyone ????

the essays are scored by computer
it's instant

how do you know what you got?

It says your score.

click "submit"
then the page with your score and your essay will come up

oh... i got a 6, so 11-12. How accurate is this ?

Six times two is twelve... (referring to the previous poster, not the question about the accuracy of the online system, of which I have no idea)

Post your 6 essay. I'd like to read it.

"Here you received a score of 6 from the equivalent of one reader indicating a potential score of 11 - 12. "

Jesus, i was just asking if the score was accurate.

It isn't that I don't have confidence in myself, I just was wondering if the score was accurate, since I am not as familiar with the SAT scoring as I assumed you guys were. It really isn't that big of a deal. Next time I won't ask.

Josh I again ask if you would post your 6-scored essay. I'd like to read it to see how to improve my score.

There's bound to be people on CC who've taken the new SAT and used the practice test scoring online. They'll be able to better answer your question.

joshb110

honestly i'm not sure about its accuracy. if you want, however, go to rocketreview.com and score your essay there and compare it with the score from the official collegeboard course.

Josh,
Please don't take offense, and please feel free to ask any future questions without reservations. Ill humor seems to abound here on these forums at the moment. I think a lot of us are wound pretty tight waiting for our scores, and some unlucky people are stressed out about school finals, etc. I wish I could answer your question, but I have no familiarity whatsoever with online essay grading. There will always be grumpy people in the world; don't take them too seriously.

thanks sl1201, will have to try it
