SAT or ACT for JHU?!

I’m applying JHU RD, which is my definite first choice.
I took both SAT and ACT, and I noticed that if you took ACT, you don’t need to send SAT/SATII scores to hopkins.

Well,
My SATI >>500V 700M
SATIIs>> MathIIc: 690, Chem: 710, Writing: 550 :frowning:

ACT>> 28 combined (24 writing, 32 math, 30 reading, 25 science)

I plan on majoring in political science, and I really want to go to hopkins.
I know both scores are pretty low for JHU, but I’ve been in US for less than 3 years, and took ESOL courses for a year. So hopefully Hopkins will take that into consideration :stuck_out_tongue:

Should I send SAT/SATII, or ACT, or both?

HELP ME!!

Your ACT is better than your SAT score by a considerable amount.

Jerod

bumpity bumpy

I would send both and let them determine which to rely on. None is that great for Hopkins as you note and the 28 ACT is not that much better than the SAT and that Chemistry SAT score may help.

I know a kid that got into JHU with a 28 ACT but he had amazing EC's... not saying that you don't, but you didn't provide that info.

Good luck and I think you can send ACT scores and SAT II scores...

anyone else?

i applied early decision to hopkins and i got a 1270 sat, 28 act too. but u dont have to be so worried, since the regular decision isnt till january right? well i think that you should send both and like drusba said, they decide what to choose (They always take the best). also, as ive heard from multiple people, one from the person who interviewed me at hopkins said that jhu (unlike ivies) doesnt just admit students based on act or sat, its the whole package that counts, so it depends on what other things you have on your application.. i havent gotten my notification yet, but as for me, like i said i got a 1270 and 28..but i also interned at hopkins university and got my mentor (of great clout) to write me a rec...other than that, i also have some ec (tutor and some program crap) so i'll tell u if i got in or not, and from that u dont have to be so worried, so if u want me to let u know if i got in or not email me at nguyent@umbi.umd.edu and i'll let u know to assure u (haha if i get in u dont have to worry) oh yea, and my friedn got into jhu regular decision with a 1200 sat, B average, average classes (by average, i mean honors/advanced/aps, all the main courses at my school are at least honors) she had no EC, but she got in, so dont be too worried okie my friend

I'm glad to see some people on here with scores like mine. Pfewww. My friend applie JH ED, with a 1270 and 28, I'll tell him to post if he gets accpeted.

wow... I don't feel so left out anymore. I have 28 ACT, and there are people telling me that it's O K.

Thank you guys for your suggestions.

Anyone else?

oh and by the way, you being in america for only 3 years, and you still got those scores is VERY good. alot of people in here think that to get into almost any college at all, u need >1500 sat and 36 act, but thats not true at all (for MOST colleges-not harvard and such). so you should be proud of what you got considering youve only been here for 3 years. but dont stress urself out over it
