“but apparently some schools ‘prefer the ACT over the SAT.’”

Myth. send your best scores, either set.

[The ACT | ACT-SAT Concordance | ACT](The ACT Test for Students | ACT)

The whole “colleges favor one standardized test over the other” is one of the biggest myths in college admissions, usually based on the old (and now extinct) idea that the SAT was preferred in the north more than 25+ years ago when the ACT was a little newer.

Just send your highest score.

Actually, about four years ago, one set of colleges reversed the trend of colleges stating no preference for a test. The Cal Poly’s, which are in a state where the SAT is the test usually taken by high school students, decided to go from having no preference to stating one for the ACT. However, that does not mean you are at a disadvantage if submitting SAT and they will treat the tests equally.

Otherwise, i am unaware of any college of any rank that has a preference for one test over the other.
