SAT or ACT... the dilemma

Hey, I'm going to college in two years. I'm american but have always lived in france. Because of this, I know very little about the US system. I am planning on going to university here prefferably to an ivy league or a smaller liberal arts college. What is better, the SAT or thte ACT. With the Princeton Review Guide, it says that alot of colleges want either the ACT w/ the writing component or the SAT with 2 or 3 SAT subject tests. I have done some practice tests on the SAT and have not scored very well because of my lack of practice. What is better, the ACT or the SAT? For what reason? Is this true about every university? As it is know, I could not get in to any good college.
What's weird is that I am american and french, born in the us but raised in france and schooled in the british system for the past 3 years. I speak and write fluent english and french and also know good spanish. I am doing the IGCSEs and A levels. Right now I have 2 A*s, 5 As and 2 Bs in the IGCSEs (edexcel and cambridge) with one A in AS. If anyone knowsm plz tell me what to do.

Colleges readily take either SAT or ACT w/writing (some don’t require writing but you should assume you will need it for any higher ranked colleges) so either is fine. However, submitting ACT does not mean you can escape taking SAT subject tests. As to subject tests, majority of colleges neither require nor use them for admission; however, most high ranks do. For some of those if you submit ACT you do not have to submit subject tests but for others subject tests are still required. Go to the following site for a list of colleges that require, recommend, or consider subject tests: [Compass: Admissions Requirements](<a href=“SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group”>SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group) .In the required column you will see the number of subject tests required by colleges. If the number has an * next to it that means the college will take the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT subject tests; if there is no * you must still submit subject tests even if you submit ACT. Be aware that Rice should now have an * next to the number. Also, be aware that when you apply to college, the University of California schools will no longer require subject tests:

Either one is fine. Are you taking the test in Europe? I know that the SAT is available across the pond, but I do not know about the ACT. It should be easy enough to take both and see which one makes you more competetive. Bon chance!

As previously mentioned, either is good. If you havn’t scored well in the SAT, try practicing the ACT. I personally think that the ACT is easier anyway, and then you don’t have to take subject tests!

Both the SAT and the ACT are available in France so I just have to practice. Thanks a bunch.

I also agree, I personally think the ACT is easier.
