I'm deeply considering taking either the SAT subject test or the AP exam for French. I personally think the SAT II would be easier (no speaking/writing) but if I get 650+ would it have equal weight to an AP score of 4+? Or does the AP seem of higher value/comprehension to universities? I'm not a native speaker.

Weight as to what. If you are talking about weight in determining admission to college then the SAT II score is important for colleges that require such tests. However, no college requires AP scores for admission, vast majority don’t consider them at all and others give them little consideration. It is more important that you have taken AP courses and graded well in them. Main purpose of AP test scores is to get college credit after you are admitted.

Thank you both so much. That’s good because I plan to self study for it anyway, so less work. And I’m talking about weight as in admittance to universities.

SAT is usually weighted more for college admissions, but it doesn’t mean a thing afterwards. AP exams can give you college credit, but it depends on the college.
