SAT or SAT II's?

My friend will be applying to Stanford early action; he would like to retake the SAT and SAT Subject Tests, but must choose one or the other because of the testing dates. He currently has a 2200 SAT ( with 700+ in each section), but has received 650's on two subject tests. Should he take the SAT or SAT II's in October?

P.S.: He is a white male.

Go to the common data set - and see if they give more weight to one or the other in the admission process.

Why is it always “my friend”?

But I would advise to retake the subject. You’re reasoning scores are already fairly high.

Lol, as incredible as this may seem, it is really for my friend. He asked my opinion on the matter, and I offered to make a post for him on collegeconfidential.

I would suggest retaking the subject tests. The reasoning score is good enough to get him a shot (I got 2100 in my reasoning and I was accepted), but the subject tests are a bit lacking and imo the subject tests say more than the reasoning test does.

Why is he trying to SCEA when all of his scores aren’t what he wants them to be? Tell him to wait until RD until his application is as good as it can get.

llpitch isn’t the deadline for SCEA Novemeber 1st? He has some time to retake the tests. And I believe CollegeBoard now has a policy where you can pick which scores you wish to send so universities won’t know whether or not he did other tests and performed worse on them.

Well he wants to retake both the SAT and SATII and

made it sound like he needs to choose between the two which one he should retake.
