SAT or SATII???

i'm planning on applying ED/EA in the fall. but i'm retaking SATI and possibly 2 SATII's at the same time.
my highest SAT reasoning combined as of now is 2060 and i'm aiming for 2150+. i have to retake USH b/c what i got was really yucky...didn't even break 700 (however, i took chinese and got an easy 800, but that was 'cheap').

so my dilemma is...should i take SATI first or the SATII's first? there are test dates in both oct and nov.

do colleges take SATII's into high consideration? i mean i already have 2 SATII's so i can def apply. but i'm just really uncomfortable w/that 630 i got in USH. yuck.

i'm aiming for reaches like JHU, cornell, tufts...or possibly one of the 'higher' ivies.

I don't think the order matters. Do whichever one you'd do better on October first.

do u know if colleges accept late scores? november tests will probably come out around 20th? usually ED/EA apps are due the beginning of the month

"If a college requires the SAT (either SAT I or SAT II or both) of its Regular-Decision candidates then these tests are required of Early-Decision candidates as well. Typically, you will need to finish your testing in October, but sometimes November test scores are available in time. Some colleges that require the SAT II in addition to the SAT I will be flexible with ED applicants and agree to make decisions–at least provisional ones–before both sets of test scores have been received (but assuming that they have one set on file). Others will not. In many cases, the ACT will replace BOTH the SAT I and the SAT II.

While paying extra to “rush” your scores to colleges may be necessary, many institutions (especially smaller ones, not huge state universities) will accept preliminary score reports by fax, e-mail, or over the phone when provided by your guidance counselor (not by you!). Official score reports will still need to be sent eventually, but admission officials are commonly willing to evaluate your candidacy based on these unofficial (but usually very reliable) score reports. (Scores are available online about two weeks after the test date.)

In addition, keep in mind that a growing number of colleges now offer two separate Early Decision deadlines. Typically, the first of these is in mid-November and provides a decision in mid-December. This plan is designed for applicants who are organized enough to get application forms and testing requirements out of the way very promptly and who also are certain that they have identified a top-choice college by the first weeks of their senior year.

When a second round of ED is offered, the deadline is usually in January or even February. If you are thinking about being an ED applicant but haven’t completed your testing by October, inquire to see if your target college has a second ED round that might be better for you."

This is from the "Ask the Dean" site on CollegeConfidential.

wait, what's the unofficial/preliminary score reports? don't we just get one, which i assume is the "official" report?

Yes, you get an official report in the mail, but when you send your SAT scores, it has to be done through the CollegeBoard, so if you fax the report you got in the mail, that's not official. You have to actually go on the CollegeBoard website and tell them to send a score report.

oh alright.

ok, a little digression here.

any other inputs to the original questions? in essence, if i ask my GC to call the school after the due date of the ED/EA app deadline to give 'em my nov scores, will these scores be accepted? or should i just forget about ED/EA? how important are the subject tests? i mean i know it's obviously not as important as the reasoning..but you know...

bump!
c'mon guys...need a teeny help here. reasoning or subject test first? considering i'm doin ED and i have 2 subject test already...i'm afraid that bad SAT II's will destroy my chances

I would say take the SAT II for USH first and SAT I second.

i would take the SAT IIs in time for ED...
the november won't count because it's too late for ED/EA but you can still use the SAT I score for regular decision :]

isn't 2060 way too low for schools like JHU or cornell? i wouldn't worry bout tufts b/c it has ED2. but the others...plus i didn't think SAt II's are as important as SAT I. subjects don't weigh as much as the reasoning...

they both make a part of your academic index...so they should count
plus you have "0" SAT IIs
you're retaking US and Chinese is kinda the easy way out so i would pick the SAT II
yea, your SATI is low, but i personally think your SATIIs are in a more dire situation than the SATI is

that's just my opinion :]

ED is more lenient than RD. that makes me feel better i guess. but honestly, i just feel like, if i apply early w/that 2060, there'll be no way for me to get in........does this make sense? i mean, maybe if i get better I's, they'll "kinda" overlook the II's...GOD i hate this...

um...u can only apply 1 ED/EA right?

2060 is a pretty good SAT I score IMO, my friend got into Cornell ED with a 2000, and his GPA or ECs were'nt that spectacular either. Retake the SAT II for US History first, and if u can, take Math II and a science SAT II as well.

lol. "weren't that spectacular either" on CC probably IS pretty good!
