SAT out of 2400?

<p>My parents say the sat is out of 1600, math and verbal. They say writing doesn't count. I told them it is out of 2400, but they have never heard of such a thing. Can anyone help?</p>

<p>when you view your score, you should really view it out of 1600 because the writing section isn’t often taken on equal weight.</p>

<p>It used to be out of 1600. They recently changed it and its now out of 2400 so its very possible your parents havent heard of that.</p>

<p>Some colleges count the writing section equally; others are waiting to see if a high score on that section counts for anything. It’s probably worth your while to do well on the writing section anyway.</p>

<p>a lot of college before required the sat ii writing…since collegeboard combined it into the sat i, i’m pretty sure that they and colleges believe its important</p>
