I’m taking AP Physics 1 along with the SAT Physics Test. I have a couple of questions:
*How did you guys self study for the second part of the SAT Test?
*Did you use a prep book (like Barron’s) or a textbook? Which prep books do you recommend?
*What textbooks did you guys use and did it prepare you well with the conceptual/memorization questions?
*How hard is the test?
Top prep books are Princeton and Barron’s. Barron’s is generally known to have harder practice tests.
By the looks of the June Physics thread, the grading scale for the SAT Physics test is pretty generous. Since you commented the same question on that thread, you can just read through and find all the information I’m going to tell you. (about half right is about a 630, and someone who claimed to guess on 15 of the questions scored a 770).
Anyway, to compare, the AP Physics 1 scale resulted in a dismal (~33%) pass rate.
AP Physics 1 covers about half the topics from the SAT Physics test. Read through the review books. I wouldn’t really suggest any textbooks. If you’re really suck on something, check out YouTube for some help. Of course, if you’re taking a physics class currently, your teacher should be able to help you with non-AP topics like optics, thermal physics, and modern physics.
