SAT Practice test books

I need a book with a lot of practice tests. Which book has the best tests most similar to the real thing. I've already used 11 PR tests, Kaplan, and the College Board book.

I suggest you try online SAT course from the College Board.

The only prep book closest to the real thing is the CB book. Nothing else is really that great. I have PR (in three different forms) and after many SAT practice tests, I can tell there is a difference in the math questions PR has. But, PR is pretty good on the tips to solve math problems and it’s good on grammar/essay prep. I’ve only heard bad things about Kaplan. If you must work out of something other than the blue book, use PR.

Using PR and Kaplan is a really bad idea. Use QAS’s, Online Course (has four QAS’s out of 10 tests), Blue Book #2 (has 3 QAS’s out of 10 tests) and Blue Book #1 (made of prior-2005 released tests)

^ this dude needs to stop…
his marketing scheme is obviously not working

Hahaha, go easy on benhpark, james. (though I do know the tale of the post in the middle :p)

magicfan, what do you think about Kaplan tests? I took one diagnostic test on their preparatory software and thought the writing section was too easy while the math was unrealistically hard, but it was just ONE test after all. I’m thinking about buying Kaplan’s 12 practice tests book, which is really expensive, so I’d really value your input.

I found the PR tests the best source of practice outside the CB materials.
However, the QAS tests I did helped me the most.

I am not affiliated with the College Board, in any way. In fact, using QAS’s and College-Board-released-tests seems to be the general consensus among many CC’ers. Please see xiggi’s post on how to study for the SAT and see substantial improvement. Here is my question: if I am giving useful advice, why do I need to stop?

OP, I suggest that you buy BB1 too, if you want additional practice. BB1 is basically composed of piecemeal questions from prior-2005 released exams.

I may be suggest BARRON’S 2400 + Workbooks

^ Barron’s 2400 is a good guide, but I don’t know about the Workbooks from that company. My friends reported them to be overwhelmingly difficult; some even had their confidence destroyed.

BARRON’S Math/ CR/ WR Workbooks. They go in depth and contains a lot of practice.

^^^^the post above James was deleted and so it looks like James is criticizing you. lol :P

Thanks for all of the help! Although, I’m a little confused with the different blue books. I already have Kaplan’s 8 Practice tests, PR 11 tests, and College Board’s Official SAT Study Guide that comes with 8 practice tests. The problem is, each year, and newer edition is released with the exact same tests. Could anyone from above post links to good books? I think the links would be easier because I’m getting confused with the different blue books and stuff (like I’m not sure if I have BB1 or BB2 or what the difference is lol).
And to crouch88, most people say Kaplan is terrible, but I found the tests alright. I think PR and others are better, but the tests weren’t all that bad. I took a practice test from them and ended up getting a 2050. Two weeks later my PSAT was 205, so Kaplan was pretty close. Overall, IMO, try other books first, but if you’ve already used them then Kaplan shouldn’t be too bad. Kind of easy, but pretty good practice.

nvm my comment was in reference to the deleted post… sorry for the confusion =P
