It's ok. It's obviously going to go up.

I took it in 7th grade, got like a 500, or something like that, and recently I got a 710. Nothing to definitely fret about.

you're fine; not every middle schooler gets 700+ in all three sections on the SAT

i raised verbal/critical reading from 450 (7th grade) to 510 (8th) to 730 (11th)

730 - 450 = 280
280 / 4 (years) = +70 pts / yr

so as long as you study when you're a jr, you're fine

when did u start studying?

junior year

how bout u azn

7th and 8th grade: my parents tried to get me to study, but it didn't work; i studied like twice a year

REAL studying was during the summer before 10th grade, not much during the actual school year, and then consistent studying started during the summer before jr yr

what did u get on the actual test besides tht 730

I took the Duke Talent Search SAT in 7th grade...

I got a 710 Math (which is the same as I'm getting now lol on practice tests, but I got 2 800s on the real thing, (so it's all good)) and a 600 CR, I was one of top 10 in state and recognized for it

but critical reading i got a raw score of 76

and math i got like 43

what state???

and im like genius at reading and math im alright

if you are a genius at reading, why do you not know how to write?

because this not anything i need to pay attention to writing for

tennisfreak, wait, did you get 430 or 520 for math? do you mean 430 for writing?

730 was my score on the REAL Jan. '06 test

beforehand i took several practice tests from the Collegeboard Blue book, and i only got 730 once, and rarely ever broke 700, so i was really worried that day...

anyways, for the Jan. test, reading from the blue book is harder than the real deal, math: about the same (but I'm good at math so you might want a second opinion), writing: easier than actual test

Cr- 620
Math- 520
Writing- N/A yet

I think you're fine. Even if you don't study for SATs you're score will improve hugely.

I mean I know that when I took the SAT in 7th grade I hadn't covered in math class a huge portion of what was on there, so there was no way I could've done tremendously well (560 then, 800 jr year). I know a lot of kids are moving into higher math classes more quickly now...but assuming you haven't already completed both algebra II and geometry, you'll be fine by the time you get ready to take the test for real.

i gotta 360 in 7th grade and 800 in 11th (never prepped for SAT math)...7th grade scores really don't show anything

I have to agree with Shobhit2006. Every kid who takes the SAT in the 7th grade is like in the top 5% of all 7th students, so the distribution of scores is inaccurate because it only reflects the upper end of the population. It is also unfair because many kids in 7th grade haven't learned the Math on the SAT.
The CR section is probably a more accurate indicator of intelligence for 7th graders. My brother's friend got only a 350 Math but a 500 CR when he took the SAT in 7th grade. While the 350 Math may not be impressive, the 500 CR is since that is about the average score for people who are several years older than him.
