I got a 650 on my June CR section and I wanna see if I can raise this to around a 700. What practice tests should I use, not including the Blue Book (I've already done those)? I have until October 1st, so I'm looking for any books that have practice tests, preferably more difficult than the actual SAT. Amount of practice tests don't matter either.

I'm trying to improve my passage based reading. I have Direct Hits for vocab. Thanks in advance!

Read. Read. and look at Silverturtle’s guide. That helped.

What I did is - mark off the line references so you know where to refer to
Know your hit parade words, but just understand, don’t memorize.
And Use Princeton Review
PR has a great 10 practice tests (the 11th is for PSAT). It gives you a reasonable range. My first actual SAT was 2000 –> 2200

Thanks, and yeah I’ve heard good things about PR’s 11 tests. Are there any other books that I can use?

Use the Blue Book (but you’ve said that you’ve already exhausted those tests). So try McGraw Hill for a Hit Parade Word List - Use PR’s actual SAT book, which as 4 more practice tests, all ten sections (which is great! because you can actually simulate testing conditions).

What I found is that I experienced more improvement testing with Blue Book’s Reading instead. And if you haven’t already, sign up for the online test. I don’t know what the fee is, but remember to use these tests wisely - YOU WANT IMPROVEMENT, NOT A STABILIZATION OF SCORE, so test every 2 - 3 weeks after preparing for individual sections.

Now, I know that all this seems really laborious, but it isn’t. Just allot maybe an hour to an hour and a half a day to studying vocab words, familiarizing yourself with the format of the test, and trying to find the best method for reading. One method I use is the line references, as well as following the words with my finger, so I can “feel” the text. It helps me engage in closer, more critical reading (idk whatever works for you man!)

And to justify that my advice is credible, I improved my March 2011 critical reading from 620 (6 wrong, 7 blank) to 740 (probably about 3-4 wrong, none left blank). And if it helps any I fell asleep during one of the reading sections (which may have impacted my score :P). So I rushed on a few questions. Just shows how far reading everything can help. Good luck man.

I’ll be retaking for 800 CR 800 math hopefully :S

You only used Blue Book for that improvement? I realized that for math if I use much harder tests as practice it helps a lot, and it contributed to a much higher score this time around. Are there tests out there that are more difficult than the Blue Book?
