<p>Hey everyone, I just wanted to hear some suggestions on SAT Prep Books. I'm a junior and I will be taking the SAT for the first time in March. I want a prep book that cuts out the self-esteem boosters and Joe Blog reminders and gets into the meat of what I need to know with some practice tests. </p>

<p>On my Sophomore PSAT (didn't study) I got a 178. I got a 193 this year taking a Princeton Review class offered by my school, but the teacher didn't cover all the material she was supposed to in the class. If it makes a difference, I got a 200 on the Princeton Assessment I took right after I finished the class. I need the most help probably in the Critical Reading section and very little help on the Math section.</p>

<p>I'm shooting to get at least a 2000 on my SAT in March (I'm just going to use prep books to study, not a class). I will probably take the SAT again in June to raise my score. I've been looking at the Barron's SAT 2400 but it seems kinda thin. Are there other books that have helped you? If I do get the Barron's SAT 2400, go with the one with the CD or without for the $10 difference? I'm going to be incredibly busy between now and then, so I can probably handle only one or two prep books at the most. </p>

<p>I'm planning on taking the ACT in April. Any suggestions on prep books for that?</p>

<p>Yep, the big blue book (official SAT book by CollegeBoard) is the best.
Lots of practice tests, a bit of review stuff, like sample questions but it's basically just 8 practice tests. It helps a LOT.</p>

<p>Grab three books for ACT if you're seriously considering sending this score over SAT:</p>

<li>PR ACT Prep</li>
<li>Kaplan ACT Prep (great for reading!)</li>

<p>Not sure if you needed something to help out with the writing section. I know my score and my friends were lower in this. Found a free guide explaining the essay portion at writetocollege.com.</p>
