SAT Prep Questions!

Hi, I'm going to the 11th grade in the fall, and I'm practicing this summer for the SAT. My test date is on October 6th, and I have a few questions as to how to practice further.
I currently get around 2250 on the CollegeBoard practice tests, and I'm aiming for 2400 (or at the very least, 2300 or 2350). Is that goal too far-fetched?
What else should I do to improve my score other than doing more practice tests (I have about 7 more)

Thanks so much for answering!

Honestly, I believe that getting above a 2300 (or even 2350) is skill/preparation/smarts (or whatever else you attribute to a good SAT score) but a 2400 has some luck involved. So no, a 2300 is not far fetched, but a 2400 is not guaranteed just by studying.

For your practice tests, are you just taking them or are you also reviewing all the problems you miss and figuring out why you missed them? That way you understand the types of problems you are doing wrong and can work on not missing them next time.

I’m reviewing the problems as well, that technique alone bumped me up from a 2100 to a 2250.

Is there anyone who got above 2300? What did you do to score that high?

I’m in the same class as you. I got a 2360 so let’s see what I can think of…

First practice. I took over twenty tests which got me from a 2150 or so to my final score.

Reviewing helps. Cut out the questions you miss and paste it into a book to review.

What’s your weakest section/breakdown? I’ll be able to help more if I know.

Hi,
I am looking for a good SAT tutor online/in person in DC metro area. Please let me know if you know someone or some online tutor. I mean a sincere person who can help to raise score from 2100 up.

Thanks!

I work as a tutor and SAT instructor, and I have to say that the above posters are absolutely correct. Above a 2300 really anything goes. Getting exactly one question wrong can be worth 20, 10, or zero points off of a perfect score, depending on that particular test’s curve and which section you are missing a question in. Pure luck right there. It’s almost impossible to guarantee improvement with studying and practice beyond 2300 for this reason. The best thing you can do is study the problems you get wrong and not just understand that problem, but seek out problems that test the same concept until you can do them in your sleep. Then, on the test, double-check everything. If you’re scoring that high, you are probably finishing the sections with plenty of time to spare. Use it all.
