Do you think it's too late to start studying for the SAT? It's halfway through July and I'm taking the test in October. The reason I haven't started is because I've been really tired and just not up to it. But I want to start now. Please answer thanks. Words of encouragement would be great.

Absolutely not

Listen, I started studying for the JUNE SAT during March. I received a mediocre diagnostic score, a 1490. After constantly watching BASKETBALL motivational videos and looking at the campuses of IVY leagues, i told myself I want to go there. So i studied my but off from March to May, a matter of 3 months, and went from a 1490 to a 1960. Thats a huge increase and trust me, if you have the heart and the will to succeed, then you definitely have the power to do so.

Here is a all time favorite quote from an all time favorite movie:

"Hey. Don’t ever let somebody tell you… You can’t do something. Not even me. All right?
You got a dream… You gotta protect it. People can’t do somethin’ themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want somethin’, go get it. Period. "

“Its not how hard you hit, its how hard you get hit that keeps you moving”

You have to WANT it, not NEED it.

@workovertalent Thanks!! That really helped. :D

And u guys think I can pull it off for studying for little over two months until the October test? I’m going into senior year so I’ll only have two chances after that to take the test .of course after the October test ill still be studying. And my PSAT score was a 148 but I’m determined to change it!!

You definitely have time. Go for the CollegeBoard review book and take a lot of practice tests. Good luck!

My sophomore PSAT was a 160, which is kinda low too. Then i took the princeton review class for a whopping exorbitant(overly expensive) price of $1000. The first diagnostic test i got a 1650 w/o studying(Didnt know what or how to study). But then i progressively i got better and better, and by the end of the 4th diag. test i got a 1960. To be honest, it wasnt the teacher that really helped, she kinda just wrote on the board every word and kinda wasted my time, but mostly it was my hard work that got me that score. I wasnt sure if that score was accurate to i bought the OFFICIAL SAT GUIDE(2nd ed.) and took Practice test 1 with a score of 1980. A lot that helped me was the guides on College confidential. I’m working hard to get a 2200+ for top schools in my town. My realistic goal is Rice university in houston, but I’m gonna try and get into Princeton. You heard the saying right? “Aim for the stars and maybe you’ll reach the sky”. Here is an awesome guide of the guides on college confidential.

For Vocab i’d say Direct Hits Volume 1 and 2(You can find PDFs of these online if you look hard enough(4shared maybe) or if you want to buy, then get 500 Essential words by Larry Krieg(author of DH 1 and 2).
