I am planning on taking the SAT in January to send last minute to a few colleges, the problem is some schools require Subject tests and some don't. I was always under the impression that you could take SAT and SAT subject tests the same day. My problem is, is that i can only take one. I need subject tests to send to Boston University, but don't need them for Pitt and a few other schools. I don't have good SAT scores from the first time i took the SAT, but i have zero subject tests. It doesn't seem worth taking and sending subject tests with a bad SAT score, should i just take the regular SAT and send it to my colleges. If i am submitting my ACT with writing could i submit just an SAT score and have Boston University still look at it since they require either ACT with writing or SAT with subject tests?

Sorry is this is confusing, but thanks for taking time to reply!!

In would be much easier to tell you what to do if you gave a list of your schools. The schools that require SAT Subject Tests and the ones that don’t. However the ACT w/ writing will be an adequate substitute for the SAT Reasoning + SAT Subject Tests. With you being really vague it’s hard for us to adequately help you.

Your ACT could be really good compared to your SAT, meaning you wouldn’t have to take either the SAT Reasoning or SAT Subject Tests in January.

Sorry for being so vague in this post, i was trying to write it quickly because i had to leave. Both my SAT and ACT scores are poor. I just haven’t had good luck with this test, even with using books and other study techniques. The only schools that need subject tests that i am applying too are Boston University. I am also applying to University of Pittsburgh, Depaul University, and University of Washington ( along with some others that i have either already been accepted to, or are local that i am not too worried about and wouldn’t be sending new scores too). I submitted my ACT score to All of my schools and notified the ones listed above i would be sending the January SAT. My current ACT score is a 21 ( it is so horrible i know) so i was planning on taking the SAT in January and then submitting that score to all the colleges. Boston University requirements are : ACT with writing or SAT with subject tests. Would Boston University even consider my SAT score if i sent it in without subject tests since i had already sent in the ACT with writing and met the requirements? It just seems much more beneficial to take the SAT opposed to just Subject tests? Am i wrong thinking that?
